Misdemeanors

In Texas, misdemeanors are designated as Class A, B, or C. Misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in county jail.

Class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in jail, and a fine of up to $4,000.

Class B misdemeanors are punishable by up to 180 days in jail, and a fine of up to $2,000.

Class C misdemeanors are punishable by a fine of up to $500. There is no jail time for class C misdemeanors.
